High Netherfauld Battery Energy Storage System

Introduction
ESB (Scotland) Ltd are a company dedicated to sustainable energy production and storage. The company is headed by Langholm based local businessman and renewable energy pioneer Neil Ewart and his son James. Neil implemented and financed the first privately owned wind farm in Southern Scotland and advises on renewable energy issues to a diverse range of individuals and business’s nationally.
The proposal is for 260 battery energy storage units with associated infrastructure on a former storage site located alongside the M74 at High Netherfauld Farm House. The site is of low grade and is currently predominantly laid with hardcore and therefore there is no loss of agricultural or ecologically sensitive land.
The development as proposed provides additional essential energy infrastructure in support of UK renewable energy generation and carbon reduction policies and targets nationally. The development proposes to support the national drive towards renewable energy with the UK’s commitment to an 80% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (compared to 1990 levels) by 2050. The installation of a Battery Energy Storage System such as the one proposed for High Netherfauld, assists in mitigating the impact of frequency volatility caused by the renewable energy schemes which are essential to meeting national targets.

Both events will be held between 12 noon and 3pm,
